I have no idea why Epson doesn't update its software and instead they keep shipping it with this annoying glitch, but if you want to fix it go ahead and download EPSON Scan Common Updater v1.00+ from here: If you are scanning multiple photos at once, position each photo at least 20 mm.

Turns out Epson has fixed this two years ago!
